In the modern era, whatever we do, almost everything is connected with technology. It’s affecting our lives on all fours, especially in the education segment.

Apart from academic studies, students like to take online courses for additional lessons. During the Covid-19 pandemic, students had to stay at home and they couldn’t go to school, college and university. As students, they have to carry on their studies. For the study purpose, topically they have chosen the online communication and education platform and they have become accustomed to it. That’s why gradually academic education is also diverted into online. Teachers take exams and classes online. Students communicate by online platform with each other. We have been seeing that a lot of video communication platforms became famous, Especially the Zoom app. Then numerous tech companies launched video communication platforms. Online teaching platforms are becoming unicorns.

Let’s discuss how technology affects education positively and negatively.

Positive technological effect on education

  • Immeasurable access to information.

We used to take information from the book. That’s why we had limitations and hard to find out any information. When the internet has come, it’s convenient to access information with some click. For unlimited access online, you can find out numerous information about any subject, course, formula, date etc easily.

  • Quality full education at a low cost.

We wish to have low-cost quality full education and according to some people, education should be free for everyone. Is it possible? If we see globally, for taking academic education many of us are taking a student loan. This is unfair, right? Still, we can’t provide free education. When the internet has come, we can say education expenses became lower than in the past and also there are a lot of free quality full educational resources online.

  • The easiest and fastest way to learn.

The tool helps us to do anything easily. For study purposes, there are lots of tools we have online. Google suits are one of them. Apart from Google suits, there are lots of tools that can assist us. For instance, Grammarly, Evernote, Khan Academy, Quizlet, Magoosh etc.

  • Flexibility.

We are accustomed to going to the institute for study but with the expansion of the internet, we can be learning from home wherever we want. During the pandemic, students continue their studies from home.

  • The advantage to being a first mover.

The world has been gradually moving online. Online, we are getting whatever we want. If students conduct all activities online then from the first day they will be familiar with the internet and they don’t need to learn about the internet in a new way. Because staying online, automatically they will learn how to use the internet.

Negatively technological effect on education

  • Physical health issues.

As a student, you do study at least 8 to 10 hours a day. If you study 8 to 10 hours a day in front of a computer or laptop or smartphone then most probably you’ll suffer your back, neck, shoulder, arm pain. Research has shown that 50% of people will use eyeglasses around 2050 for heavily using technological stuff.

  • Distraction.

Distraction is a major problem in our daily life. Apart from real-world distractions, online has a lot of ways to be distracted. You try to do study and during that time you get notifications from social media and then you divert to that.

  • Mental Health issues.

For the technological revolution mental issues grew double. People have been conducting everything online. This is why physical interaction is reduced. Lack of physical interaction we can’t express our emotions. We feel solitary; this is why mental disorders are added. With the increasing online activity somehow online bullying, violence, threats are growing. Day by day we are also losing our social skills.

  • Insufficient Teaching Methods.

After A Sudden change in the education medium after the pandemic, students and teachers haven’t been understanding how to use the online method effectively. Urban children can use the online platform but if you see local areas children haven’t a technological advantage. Many institutes can’t create that much technological system for students.

  • Highest possibility to be Cheated.

Online education is booming. That’s why anybody can create educational content but there isn’t any authority to verify that content quality. For that, there is a massive possibility to be cheated. The cheater content creator can loot your valuable money. On the other hand, students are also cheating with the teacher ( Ultimately they are cheating with themselves ). They’re copying assignments from online resources. They don’t use their brain to do these things. For that ultimately there is no benefit.

Conclusion

Everything has an effect, it’s a law of the universe but bad and good effects depend on motive. Similarly, technology is technology, its positive and negative effects depend on how we use it. Denying technology, we can’t comfort & convenient our life. We have to understand that we’re not for technology, technology is for us. In the future students can be benefited by using proper technology. We can wish that through technology, education will be free and more quality full and limitless than now. And knowing the proper use of technology can save us and save the next generation.
